When I saw the Playskool Magnetic Capital Letters I knew I needed to pick up a box of them for my son. Lately his favorite kitchen activity has become dumping the dog food and water on a daily basis and I desperately needed something constructive, but fun for him to do in the kitchen. I'd tried bringing in various toys and playing music (The Wiggles, of course) but that simply wasn't enough to keep him busy while I was preparing meals, etc. Letting him play with various tupperware containers and pots and pans can be entertaining but also messy and it got old after the first few times. (That type of activity is best saved for rare occasions when I really need some extra time in the kitchen!)

My son absolutely loves playing with the Playskool Magnetic Capital Letters on our kitchen fridge. Unfortunately at this point when he plays with them his idea of "play" is to remove them all one by one by pushing or knocking it onto the floor. Once all the letters are on the floor, then he will pick them up and place them one by one on the fridge. Usually, as he places them on the fridge he sorts them by color. He puts all the reds in one bunch, all the yellows, all the blues, and down the line. Once all the letters are up on the fridge, he repeats this cycle.

As they play with these letters sized for small fingers, children learn to identify letters and start putting together simple words and sentences.
